Premium Features and Cost for Dating Apps

In today’s world, so many dating apps are available that it can be challenging to determine which one is right for you AND worth some extra cash. Each has the same basic premise: look at people’s pictures and decide whether or not you like them. Still, each has slightly unique structures and features, so it’s up to us to figure out how dating apps work. If you are looking to up your dating app game with some premium features but aren’t sure which subscriptions are worth your money, you have come to the right place.

Premium features across Tinder, Bumble, Plenty of Fish, Match, and OkCupid range from about $10 to $30 per month, depending on your package and how many months in advance you are willing to pay. All five of these services offer multiple package options, and, on several of them, you can purchase just a single feature without the corresponding package. For example, on Bumble, you can independently purchase “Spotlight mode” for thirty minutes for a quick spike in matches on a given day.

Which Dating Apps are Free?

At first, all dating apps are free – at least, all 5 of the most popular ones: Tinder, Bumble, Plenty of Fish, Match, and OkCupid. Each of these dating apps have a free version.

However, not all free versions offer the same features. For example, Match’s free version does not allow you to send or receive messages – if you actually want to talk to people, you have to fork over some cash. And, it’s paid subscriptions are pricey, comparatively (scroll down just a little to see graph: “Dating App Upgrade Comparison”). On the other hand, the free version of Tinder offers all the typical basics (build a profile, swipe, chat, filters, etc) and allows you more swipes per day (100) than Bumble (25), so, I’d say, Tinder is a good place to start your dating app career.

Side By Side Comparison of Prices

Tinder Upgrades and Pricing

For free, a Tinder user can make a profile, use geolocation to see others in the same area, set filters for dating prospects based on age, gender, and distance (up to ten miles), swipe, match, chat, receive notifications, and give out one “Super Like” per day. A Super Like shows up on that person’s profile before they swipe on you, so they know that you are very interested before swiping.
